Tin Star
I gave this an overall score of an 8 based season one being a 10 and season two being a 6. Season one was gripping and binge worthy. Season two was a hot mess. Like many streaming original TV shows they have enough time and material for a great extended movie chopped up in to page turner type episodes. It allows the writers to take the time to develop characters and fill in plot holes. But also like many great movies the sequel is not as good (think Jaws 2)...in streaming original TV world that is called Season Two. Season two just didn't take the time to do what they did in season one. There were characters that you didn't know where they were or what happened to them, and I'm not talking about the ending. There was a such a big buildup to the scary Cartel/Liverpool gang that it had the unflappable Jack's lip quivering. They turned out to be about as tough as the security guards that were hired to protect the poker game. Then unlike the first season where they took a whole episode to flash back and shows us why Jack is Jack and why Frank and Whitey were there to kill him, they did no such thing with the Liverpool gang and the big whose your daddy secret. In the end they used the Amish-like community for senseless killing shock value. I will watch the 3rd season and while I am sure it will solve the cliffhanger ending, I am hoping it will also fill in the season two plot holes and tie up the loose ends of characters like Denise, Nick, and Elizabeth. One thing I did love about the whole Amish-like scenario was the paint ball girls...they may have taken me from a 5 to a 6 all by themselves.
