Teenage Girl: First Wheels
Teenage Girl: First Wheels is a definite homage and throwback to the movies of the 80s and 90s, such as License to Drive and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. But unlike those films, it's girl power all the way. This indie film features two very likable leads--band geeks who "borrow" a classic 1966 Mustang and take it for a spin. While they're out, they attract the attention of the cops, the school bully, and some love interests. Alex (Claire Tablizo) and Claire (Jaeden Riley Juarez) eventually face the consequences when their parents--there's a fun cameo from former child star Corey Feldman--come home but this mild-mannered movie never crosses the lines in the way of violence (or sex and drug use; there's just a little kissing and a failed attempt to buy beer at the local mom and pop liquor barn). Teenage Girl: First Wheels is a fun diversion that should appeal to kids and tweens.
